About Us

Dedicated to supporting and enhancing public education

The Board chose to use the Marcia Thompson school house in the village (drawn by Suzanne Starr) as its logo, since it represents not only the early beginnings of education in North Stonington, but in its simplicity it symbolizes how, as Margaret Meade said, “A small group of thoughtful people could change the world.  Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”  Through the commitment and hard work of the volunteer directors, the NSEF is on its way to enhancing and enriching the education of the North Stonington community.

Board of Directors

The North Stonington Education Foundation is governed by an all-volunteer board of directors comprised of community members.

The NSEF is independent of the North Stonington Public Schools, the Board of Education and is nonpolitical.

Fundraising and Events

Fundraising is important to our organization.  The NSEF depends primarily on tax-deductible contributions and our fundraising events so that we can provide opportunities for students and community members that are not covered by tax dollars.

Our annual fundraising events include: Toast to Spring; Runners in Support of Education Road Race; and NSEF Dinner & Dance Gala.  In conjunction with the town's bicentennial celebration the NSEF held a Bicentennial Scavenger Hunt.

The NSEF also sponsors a Community Education Series offering presentations on a variety of topics.
