Distinguished Alumni Program

The mission of Wheeler High School is to provide students with an education that prepares them to live lives of accomplishment and satisfaction in a complex and changing world, in partnership with families and the community.

In support of this mission, the Distinguished Alumni Program recognizes and honors Wheeler High School graduates who exemplify these values through significant achievements in their careers, athletics, or the arts, or through meaningful contributions to the North Stonington Public School System.

By celebrating the accomplishments of our alumni, we aim to inspire current Wheeler High School students to follow in their footsteps. Honorees are selected by a committee of educational, community, and current student leaders using the following guidelines, established by the North Stonington Education Foundation.

THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT A NOMINATION FOR THE DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI RECOGNITION IS: FEBRUARY 20, 2026

Distinguished Alumni Nominee Criteria

Eligible nominees are Wheeler High School alumni who graduated at least 10 years ago and have demonstrated distinction in one or more of the following areas:

Academic / Career

Recognized as a respected leader in their profession; has demonstrated unique talents and/or career accomplishments; and has helped improve the quality of life of others.

Athletics

Recognized for outstanding athletic accomplishments at the college or professional level.

Cultural / Performing Arts

Recognized for achievements in the cultural, visual, or performing arts; or for contributions to the promotion of cultural activities at the local, state, and/or national level.

Major Contribution to Wheeler

Recognized for promoting Wheeler and, by example or sustained contribution, serving as a major influence in the lives of Wheeler High School students.

Other Significant Achievements

Recognized for notable accomplishments or contributions not otherwise reflected in the categories above.
